Hostelling International (HI) is a non-governmental, not-for profit organization representing 71 Member Associations and 6 Associate Organisations all over the world.

-          With nearly four million members, HI is one of the world´s largest youth membership organisation and is the only global network of Youth Hostel Associations.

-          HI Sustainability Charter (Based on GSTC Criteria and Millennium Goals) approved unanimously at Conference in 2010 and it is the goal of all our National Associations to achieve minimum standards in Sustainable Tourism.

Our main objective is continuing implementing the youth hosteling mission. The mission provides opportunities for guests to learn by experience and develop social skills, as well as understand different culture and develop an awareness of environmental conservation.

“To promote the education of all young people of all nations, but especially young people of limited means, by encouraging in them a greater knowledge, love and care of the countryside and an appreciation of the cultural values of towns and cities in all parts of the world, and as ancillary thereto to provide hostels or other accommodation in which there shall be no distinction of race, nationality, colour, religion, sex, class, or political opinions and thereby to develop a better understanding of their fellow men, both at home and abroad”.
